What are the server requirements to run this software ?

Your web server/Host will need to meet the following :-

  • Server running UNIX / LINUX 
  • Web server account that has CGI capabilities. (A hosting account with cgi access)
  • Perl ver 5.0 and up installed on that web server. Contact your server administrator if you are unsure. ( Most all hosting servers have this)
  • Access to either Sendmail, BLAT, or Sockets mail. No mail can be sent without at least ONE of the above. ( Most  hosting servers have this)

Are there any limits built into the software ?

No, there are no limits built into this software. You can have as many users and as many categories/auction items as you like. Please note however that for very large sites your server may be the limiting factor. Don't forget that most servers are 'shared' meaning that you share the space on that server with other users. Most of our users with small/medium sites don't find this a problem but if you are looking to run a very large site it may be worth thinking about a dedicated server.

What is required to set-up/install the software?

You may need a text editor to change some settings in the set-up file to suit your site. You will also need some 'FTP' (File Transfer) software to upload the software to your hosting server. That's it. Download a trial version of the User Manual for more Details. 

We recommend using EditPad Lite as your text editor.

We also recommend Terrapin FTP. This is cheap and easy to use FTP software which uses a Windows style 'Drag & Drop' interface.
